For Prospective Boy Scouts
While most new boy scouts transition from first being a cub scout, it is not
a prerequisite. The below discussion assumes that you are currently a cub
considering "crossing over" to boy scouts. If you are not currently a cub,
please just ignore the cub material — the rest applies
to you.
For
Current Cub Scouts
When you complete your Cub Scout journey, through Webelos to the Arrow of
Light, your scouting journey is not over — it is just
beginning.
While Cub Scouts was about growing as a boy, Boy Scouts is about becoming a
man. In Boy Scouts, you will have fun learning new skills. Not only
will you learn skills, but you will enjoy teaching them to others!
Boy Scouts will expose you to increasingly ambitious adventures.
In Cub Scouts, most things were done for you by the incredibly dedicated
adult volunteers of your Pack. In Boy Scouts, the boys run the troop in a
very significant sense.
If you are interested in the excitement of spending time out of doors, the
satisfaction of learning new skills, and the sense of well being that comes from
realizing ambitious goals, then Boy Scouts is for you.
For more information on why it might make sense for you to join
Troop 147, see here.
How to Join Troop 147
Once you decide to join a Boy Scout troop, whether you are transitioning from
a cub pack or are joining scouting for the first time, all you need to do is to
attend a meeting. You can feel free to visit/attend a meeting, or perhaps even
an outing, before joining.
We meet most Monday
evenings during the school year, from 7:00 to 8:30 pm, in the basement of:
First Presbyterian Church
659 State Street
Holland, MI 49423-5158
In order to be certain that we are meeting on any particular Monday, just
contact us in advance.
