Openings on the Parents' Committee

In order for the troop to function, adult volunteers must perform certain administrative support roles.  There are no special skills necessary to be a parents' committee member.  The only prerequisite is a commitment to the success of our boys.

And no parents needn't wear a uniform if they don't want to.

At the moment, parents' committee positions are available (i.e., they need to be filled).  If you are interested, please contact us!

Parent

We have a need for as much parent participation as possible — on an ongoing basis.  We know that you are busy.  We welcome as much or as little time as you are able to give.

Just come to the monthly parents' committee meetings!  The troop cannot operate without a strong parents' committee.  Please do what you can (no more) to contribute to the troop's success.  The ultimate beneficiaries of your efforts (whatever they may be) are your son and his buddies.  That's what it is all about — doing what we can to help our boys.  Please contribute whatever you can of your time and energy.

The Parents' Committee

The parents committee may be seen as the "board of directors" of a troop.  Its primary responsibilities are supporting the Scoutmaster in delivering quality troop program and handling troop administration.  The parents' committee is made up primarily of parents of boys in the troop.

The responsibilities of the parents' committee include the following:

  1. Select quality leaders for the troop.
  2. Develop community service projects.
  3. Arrange transportation for outings.
  4. Plan and assist in fund-raising.
  5. Provide for special needs and assistance for individual Scouts.
  6. Serve on boards of review and at courts of honor.
  7. Maintain records of troop finances and advancement.
  8. Assist in the charter renewal process.
  9. Help with the annual Friends of Scouting campaign.
